Getting in Shape for your Destination Wedding

BosuWhen it comes to a huge life event, most women decide it’s time to go on a diet and/or start an exercise regimen. This is especially true for something as big as a wedding. Here are some tips for getting in shape for your destination wedding:

– Don’t wait until the last minute. Waiting too long to get started on your weight loss goals results in binge dieting and ridiculous exercise tactics just to fit into that dream dress and most likely won’t give you the results you were hoping for in the first place.

– The healthiest way to lose weight according to most physicians and nutritionists is to drop a pound or two a week. So, if you have 50 pounds to lose give yourself six months to a year.

– Talk to your doctor. Let a physician know you have a weight loss goal and ask what the best methods are for your body type to maximize results.

– Nix the drinking, the carbs, the fatty foods and the bad food habits you know you have to let go of.

– If you have a sweet tooth you could consider a sugar detox. In fact, many nutritionists suggest a sugar detox even if you don’t have a sweet tooth because there may be cravings you could quash just by getting all of the excess out of your system.

– Aim for 30 minutes of physical activity a day. Don’t go crazy with two and three hour exercise classes. Doing so will just exhaust you and make you want to drop the workout habit faster.

– Change the words “I can’t have…” into “I don’t want…”  Mindset is key for real change.

– Think of this as a lifestyle change not something you are just going to do for a little while and stop. Committing to a healthier lifestyle overall will make you more likely to stick to it.
