elite destination weddings
Apalachicola is a small city in Florida and not exactly the first place that comes to mind when you think of a destination wedding. Think again. This city that’s on the shore of Apalachicola Bay, an inlet of the Gulf of Mexico, is the perfect destination for your wedding and here’s why:

Boating sites. Being near Port St. Joe means that you’re near the water in Apalachicola. This means many opportunities for you and your significant other to take a romantic boat ride and explore some of the scenery of Florida. You could take anything from a cruise boat to a paddle boat on your journey before your nuptials begin.

Horseback riding on the beach. Good for you and your partner or for your wedding guests, Cape San Blas is one of the few remaining beaches in the country that allows for horseback riding on its sand. It’s a great activity to arrange for the wedding party and before your wedding takes place.

Museums and history. If you’re looking to learn a little bit about your wedding destination, then you and your guests can check out some of the museums Apalachicola has to offer. They have a maritime museum, a museum of art, as well as state parks and lighthouses to see.

Browse art and antique shops. A fun way to spend the day with your partner or with your wedding party is do a little bit of window shopping. Apalachicola has some great antique shops and art stores to explore. Hey, perhaps you could buy some early wedding gifts for each other or those who have helped you plan your big day. Try out Green Door, Sea Oats Gallery, and Market Street Antiques.

Golfing. A nice way to unwind and avoid the stress of wedding planning is to take a break and enjoy 18 holes of golf. Apalachicola has two main golf courses for you to try; St. James Bay Golf Course and St. Joseph’s Bay Country Club. No matter your skill level, take a day to golf and relax!

Local seafood. This area is known for its delicious seafood, so it should be either on your menu or as part of your wedding fun. Whether you want to take your guests out for dinner or have a romantic date with your fiancé, you can’t go wrong with trying out some of the local seafood taken right from Port St. Joe. Some restaurants to try are Apalachicola Seafood Grill, Caroline’s River Dining, and Papa Joe’s Oyster Bar.
